Optical Connector Identification System: TracerLight®
Patching between fibre systems has been conventionally managed through manual systems. The colour coding and tagging is increasingly difficult when we migrate to fibre systems. While fibre management systems have received much attention, little attention has been paid to the traceability of individual fibre connections via patch cords The increasing density in today’s network infrastructure solutions is putting a strain on IT technicians for whom tracing and identifying an individual patchcord from amongst hundreds of patchcords lying in a fibre raceway is a laborious task. The increasingly complex Data centre might require patching between multiple racks in the same area. ADC KRONE’s TrueNet TracerLight® solution is a simple but effective solution towards addressing the issues related to the above.
TracerLight patch cords have the same functions, features, and stringent environmental requirements as our standard patch cords. Optical performance of the patch cords is not affected by the TracerLight components. TracerLight patch cords are installed in the same manner as standard patch cords and can be pulled through ADC KRONE‘s FibreGuide Fiber Cable Management System with ease. The patchcord LED system is driven by a source device. The compact power source is comprised of a lightweight, plastic flashlight body featuring two AA batteries and a printed circuit board (PCB). It provides approximately 80 hours of continuous service and features 1-hour auto-off. The end of battery life is indicated by a slowing of the blink rate. Features:
The adoption of such ingenious products goes a long way towards increasing the traceability, efficiency and manageability of your system.
