Next Generation Fibre (NGF) Frames for Telcos

Introduction

Unprecedented growth in the telecommunications industry has driven wide-spread deployment of optical fibre over the past few years. As a result, many service providers are finding that their existing fibre frames and troughs are overflowing with large masses of optical fibre patch cords. In addition, the rapid deployment of SONET/SDH, fibre in the loop and video initiatives has created the demand for increased termination density at the fibre distributing frame. Service providers must build a sound network infrastructure that will provide a solid base for delivering the new and enhanced broadband services promised by the ever-advancing information superhighway.

What's Next?

It's clear that simply adding additional fibre frames to an existing FDF lineup is not the answer, as conventional fibre frames allow only a small number of bays in a lineup before the horizontal trough system becomes unmanageable.
