Future Proof Your Network

Data Centre

Within IT, the adoption of IP as a ubiquitous platform presents itself with an opportunity to converge all types of media and mediums of communications viz voice, data and video. The evolution of Ethernet protocol and the evolution of various technology platforms resulting in today’s Internet protocol are being driven because of our expectation to achieve better cost, higher speed coupled with better performance and reliability. New Networks, New Ways. Network architecture is evolving based on new complex environment and future proofing demands. Within a converged network, unless the expectations of cost, speed, performance and reliability are met, an optimum return on investment (ROI) cannot be realized. While the design and engineering of the product contributes to cost and speed, it is the customer experience that defines performance and reliability. It is therefore essential that solutions be designed to deliver the desired quality of service (QoS) consistently

In a corporate network, no one wants to have to explain the need for an upgrade where large parts of the infrastructure must be overhauled. The importance of network cabling is self-evident with the growing bandwidth demands and the needs to Future proof one’s network. CIOs and IT Managers are planning to maximize the longevity of their IT investments in a world of ever-changing protocols and constantly evolving security dangers.

Beyond thinking carefully about scalability and capacity, companies are giving importance to Reliability, Performance and Return-On-Investment.

Verticals such as Banking, Finance & Insurance, BPOs, IT/ITES, are all information and data dependant. The continual need for more powerful, real-time information continues to drive network performance requirements. Global investment firms and banks have mission-critical business applications that require the bandwidth capacity of 10 Gigabit Ethernet that can rapidly increase the performance of their networks. With similar needs many enterprises are driven towards a well designed structured cabling system that can help them in optimizing their businesses by expanding their infrastructure bandwidth and extending and enhancing the performance of their networks to support real-time, high speed, applications which require high performance 10 Gigabit Ethernet-enabled services.

Next Generation Cabling for Data Centres

The data center is a key resource for any organization. Many organizations simply shut down when employees and customers are unable to access the servers, storage systems, and networking devices that reside there. Literally, millions of dollars can be lost in a single hour of down time for some businesses, such as large banks, airlines, package shippers, and online brokerages. Given these consequences, reliability is a key data center attribute. Another is flexibility. Tomorrow’s requirements may not be the same as today. Advances in technology, organizational restructuring, and even changes to the broader society may impose new demands. Designing and building a data center to meet these requirements is not a simple or insignificant task. Armed with information, however, the task may become more manageable.

The CIOs perspective in terms of Choosing a Cabling solution and Deployment.

In an organization people enable processes through products and solutions. It is the technology that resides in these products and solutions that deliver more efficient processes, thereby more effective people and eventually more successful organizations. CIOs who follow the communications industry will recollect that active electronics has been consciously and consistently moving to reside closer to the user over the years. This is because the life cycle of the active part of the infrastructure is shorter, and calls for frequent up gradation. A CIO, therefore, should strive to find the right balance between the bandwidth demand and ROI. Down time of a network will cost millions of Rupees since network is the foundation for many business establishments, Physical connectivity causes down time if wrongly specified or installed. The CIO/CTO must have a perspective of the future demands in terms of network infrastructure within their organization. Today, Future proofing a company’s network is the key decision the CIO/CTO is making. They are also faced with the challenge of choosing the latest, standard based technologies for their network Infrastructure.

Converged Networks

To derive optimum benefits of IP, it is not only necessary to converge various functional groups within an organization, but also imperative to integrate them at a physical level converged through a common data transport infrastructure. Only with such convergence can one achieve the desired benefits, in terms of costs, speed, performance and reliability.

Although IP may seemingly be the domain of a CIO, the deployment and day-to-day management and responsibility of the same, is slowly moving to reside with the Facility Manager.

On a final note, performance and reliability is not just achieved by selecting the best products and solutions. This is only half the job done. The other half is achieved by selecting the right partner for design and integration. It is often noticed that a good product or solution can result in a bad delivery if not designed, integrated, and installed properly.
